Physical Training Traditions Event
Robert Amacker is coming April 27 through May 2, 2006. He is an expert Tai Chi Chuan teacher and Ethnic Musician

Robert studied with Cheng Man-ching in the 1970's. It was Cheng who was largely responsible for popularizing Tai Chi in the U.S. Robert has also studied with several other teachers which gives him a remarkably broad background in Tai Chi. He will be working with us on the fourth section of Tai Chi training; the San Shou or two man tactical form. This aspect of Tai Chi is hardly ever taught and it was taught originally by the Yang family. We are looking at two half-day sessions on April 29 and 30/Saturday and Sunday... trying to get in most of the training before lunch, starting at 8:00am. Perhaps we will do a little after lunch depending on our fatigue levels. The cost is 125.00 for both days. Robert did a wonderful little book on Tai Chi in Russian - the flavor is captured in its illustrations which depict Tea-pots doing Tai Chi! Simple, funny but amazingly effective...below is a sample...

On April 28th at 8pm at the Studioplex event room- this is the Friday preceding the Tai Chi intensive, Robert will give us a private concert on the Shamans Drum. The word "Shaman" actually is an ancient Siberian word and most of the early anthropological work on Shamanism was done in and around Siberia. Robert lives most of the time in Moscow and Prague but is recognized by the traditional the Siberians as a healer. He works within the tradition of the Siberian Shaman and is familiar with other modalities as well. He has been involved in both popular and ethnic music for many years.

Robert offered to give this concert to the Tai Chi students as an offering but I would like "outsiders"- who are not coming to the Tai Chi- to pay 20.00 each, after all- it is a long way to come from Moscow!
